I volunteered with my parents to clean up the beach during our holiday in Phuket. We learnt that the heavily gutted coastline was due to the Indian Ocean tsunami caused by the December 2004 earthquake off Sumatra, Indonesia. In Japan, the Great East Japan Earthquake of March 2011 also caused major tsunami damage. We were recalled the great power of natural disasters.
